Best Family Activity

Best Family Activity:

  • I unfortunately didn’t make it out to Colorado until I was 23.  But with that being said if I was able to come out as a kid I would’ve certainly had my family chose the Frisco Adventure Park.  The adventure park is truly one of the best family activities.  It is open all year long and offers plenty of family fun.  The adventure park offers Disc Golf: a bike park, lake Dillon, a trail system, a brand new skate park, snow tubing, a seasonal snowboard/ski park, and a few ball fields.
  • In the middle is an information center with a helpful staff to direct you in the right direction for some family fun.  The adventure park is located right in Frisco, which is also right next to the Marina and close to all the businesses on the Main Street.
  • The Adventure park is a great way to enjoy winter without having to go the resorts.  It’s also a much better price option.

    Tubing!!

  • Winter Season:  Currently the Adventure park is covered in snow!  This means the park is now open to tubing, sleigh rides, cross country skiing, and much more!  Make your plans now and as always LET US KNOW IF YOU NEED A RIDE UP TO THE MOUNTAINS!!  970-668-6000.  You are just a call away from the trip of a lifetime.

August 31, 2018 by Kevin W

Are you going to be in Summit County this labor day weekend?  Welp, if so then here is the perfect way to spend your first afternoon in September.  Dig through your pockets and see if you can find some loose 1 dollar bills.  5 of em’ gets you your own special ducky friend who has the ability to race down the Blue River and win you 1500 dollars cash!  What? The duck race?  Yes!! A full blown rubber duck race…with lots of cash up for grabs.  The races start at 1 pm, beginning with the children’s duck race, the business races at 2 pm, and then the great rubber duck race at 3 pm.

The race will begin at the blue river plaza right on Main Street.  In the plaza will be a kids zone, some live art, and some fresh BBQ out on the lawn!  Have some fun and fill your stomach before the blue river turns yellow, filled with rubber ducks. No matter what age you are a river filled with toy ducks It truly is a sight to see.  Come out and be a kid for the day!  With a chance at $1500 why wouldn’t you?!  Be sure to check out Breckenridge Grand Vacations for all your rooming needs . . after all they are the ones who are helping to put on this wonderful event.

If you’d like to enter the race go follow the link and adopt your ducky today!   Bert and Ernie look they are prepped and ready for this Saturday’s race too.  Competition seems to be heating up this year.

Bert & Ernie-Rubber Duck Racing Connoisseurs

2 Hikes Offering Visitors Some Peace and Quiet

Home » colorado

July 20, 2018 by Kevin W

Traveling to the mountains is usually sought to be an escape from the normal hustle bustle of life but with Summit County’s growing popularity it has become harder and harder to find hikes that offer true peace and quiet in the mountains.  Getting to the high Rockies of Summit County is not always an easy feat. Whether its a crowded flight, long security lines, traffic jams, or a even a friendly shared shuttle ride you can always count on some sort of a delay.  As a mountain carrier we see all these examples first hand but we have a remedy.  What’s that you ask?

Well, after conquering all of the elements of getting to the mountains how do you really enjoy the true peace and quiet of the rocky mountains?  Easy!  You get away from the crowds.  So where do those places still exist? Don’t you worry, your local shuttle company has you covered!  Here are 2 hikes that will allow you to enjoy the true, untouched beauty Summit County has to offer without having to share the moment with hundreds of other vacationers.  Peace and quiet is just a few more steps away.

Hike # 1

  • Loveland Pass Lake

The first of the 2 hikes is loop trail perfect for all levels of adventurers.  It is on the shorter side in regards to distance but it has views that go on forever.  At just under 12,000 feet of elevation this hike offers breathtaking views at a literal breath taking height.  Although the hike is only about a mile there is a lot to see in this relatively short loop.  Alpine lakes, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Resort, Keystone and Breckenridge are just a view places visible from the surrounding areas of the lake.   A bonus for out of state visitors; there is almost always some left over snow on the peaks surrounding the lake, even through the summer months.

If the one mile loop isn’t long enough then try heading up some of the pirate trails that stagger even farther up the nearby mountain.  Even though this lake is right off of the main road the hike remains a hidden gem.  Access is fairly easy, yet very few people stop off the somewhat hidden dirt road.  Loveland Pass lake is your perfect stop for a quick hike, an alpine adventure, or even just a picnic.   At 12,000 feet this is one of the higher hikes with little elevation gain needed.  But don’t forget!  You are 2 miles above sea level so even a summer day can get chilly real quick!  Make sure to bring water and an extra layer or two.

Hike # 2

  • Acorn Creek Trail

The Acorn Creek trail is located just north of Silverthorne.  This hike is nestled in a quiet valley and features beautiful views of the Gore Range. Acorn Creek is just far enough from town to avoid the crowds but close enough to fit in a quick half day hike.  Plentiful amounts of aspen trees, wildflowers, and frequent wildlife sightings make this hike a true Colorado experience.    The total hike is 8.3 out and back but this hike can easily be cut in half without sacrificing much.  The views start almost immediately so this hike is perfect for time sensitive hikers too.  Thanks to boot packing by the locals in the winter, the acorn creek trail is accessible all year around.  The open ranch lands backed by the towering Gore range is a really hard view to beat.  Acorn Creek and its surrounding area is truly something special.

*Local Tip* Acorn Creek is a hot spot for large numbers of Elk in the early spring.  Make sure to bring a camera to document the scenic back drops and Colorado wildlife you will see along the way.

Although Summit County is becoming a very popular vacation destination there are still plenty of hikes that can get you away from all the hustle bustle and back into desolate mountain trails.  Hopefully you can get out and find some of that peace and quiet that we all long to have out here in the mountains.

PS. Feel free to ask any of our drivers or agents here at Summit Express about 2 of their favorite local hikes.  They may let you in on some great local knowledge. . .just don’t tell anyone else 🙂

Two Nights of String Cheese Fun in Dillon, Colorado

Home » colorado

July 13, 2018 by Kevin W

String Cheese may not sound like your typical post weekend fun in the mountains but on July 17th and 18th it very well could be.  How so?  Well, here’s how you can turn some mid week string cheese into a great time. Dillon’s freshly renovated amphitheater is set to host two huge nights of music and fun with a performance from Colorado’s own, the String Cheese Incident (SCI).  SCI is a “jam band” that boasts multiple vocalists and an eclectic sound mixing pieces of blue grass, rock, jazz, funk, electric, and reggae into their own unique style.

In the past Dillon’s amphitheater has been the stage for a plethora of free shows but after this years 8.4 million dollar upgrade the venue is finally ready to bring in a more popular array of artists.  Hence, the arrival of SCI!

Clouds hanging over the Gore Range

The 2 night show in Dillon will feature the world renowned String Cheese Incident

SCI is no stranger to the Colorado music scene, selling out popular venues such as Red Rocks every year, which is why a show in the town of Dillon is an extra special event.  This will be the first time SCI returns to Summit County since 1999.  With that being said it is no surprise that the Dillon show was sold out shortly after tickets went on sale.  But hold on there is still good news!  If you don’t have a ticket that doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy some live music.

Unlike most venues which have a private feel, The Dillon Amphitheater is right in the middle of town.  For both locals and vacationers this means that there are plenty of free recreational areas outside the amphitheater where the music can still be enjoyed, even without a ticket. Take your friends and family to the Dillon beach to watch the sunset, grab a drink at the Tiki Bar on the marina, or take your kids to the nearby playground all while enjoying some live music in the background.  Both shows start at 6 pm.  We hope to see you there!

GENERAL INFO

If you do have tickets make sure you plan in advance for parking since this is a sold out event.  There are multiple parking lots for cars and also 66 newly added spaces for bikes if you happen to take the recreational path to the concert.

Designated paid and free parking areas and general information can be found at this link.

The exceptional personal service provided by everyone in your company from the online chat, phone calls with customer service agent, drivers and representative at the airport, arriving for pick up at the EXACT time, sending text message reminders… Your company excels at everything a customer wants and needs. five star review

We booked a trip to Colorado, and being Florida natives and not used to driving in the snow, we wanted to shuttle from Denver Airport to Copper Mountain Resort. A friend recommended Summit Express. The driver (Christopher) picked us up at the scheduled time, was extremely friendly and helpful. He talked with me the entire 2 hour ride to Copper Mountain and gave me lots of local information and tips that were very helpful during our stay.

The return trip was just as accommodating. I didn’t get our drivers name, but he was friendly and helpful with our baggage and airport transfer. Overall, we couldn’t have been more satisfied with the service. I strongly recommend using this express if you’re not familiar with the area and terrain.
