I-70E – Traction Law Code 15
Between Exit 176: Vail (Vail) and Exit 190: Vail Pass Summit (near Copper Mountain) from Mile Point 178 to Mile Point 190. Passenger vehicles that are all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) must have winter (Mountain Snowflake icon) or mud and snow (M+S or M/S) or manufacturer rated all-weather tires with adequate tread depth of at least 3/16 of an inch. Two-wheel drive (2WD) vehicles are required to have chains or an approved traction device.
I-70W – Traction Law Code 15
Between Exit 195: Copper Mountain and Exit 180: East Vail (near Copper Mountain) from Mile Point 195 to Mile Point 190. Passenger vehicles that are all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) must have winter (Mountain Snowflake icon) or mud and snow (M+S or M/S) or manufacturer rated all-weather tires with adequate tread depth of at least 3/16 of an inch.
